Worker dies after falling 20m from roof of condominium in West Coast Crescent, Latest Singapore News

A Bangladeshi employee fell to his loss of life whilst acting waterproofing paintings at the roof of a rental at 16 West Coast Crescent on May 24.

The guy, 37, who fell about 20m to the bottom, used to be rushed to National University Hospital, the place he succumbed to his accidents, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) mentioned in keeping with The Straits Times’ queries on Monday (May 30).

MOM mentioned the employee’s employer, RJ Contract, could also be the occupier of the unit, the place the incident came about at 10.45am.

It is investigating the twist of fate and has suggested the waterproofing company to prevent all paintings actions that require workers to be increased.

“As a general safety measure, every means by which a worker may fall from height should be identified and guarded or covered. In addition, workers should be equipped with safety equipment to prevent falls,” the ministry added in its observation to ST.

There had been 20 place of business fatalities between Jan 1 and May 6, with 10 in April by myself.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong mentioned on May 9 in a Facebook submit that the hot spate of place of business fatalities is unacceptable.

“We have been working hard for years to prevent workplace accidents, especially deaths,” he wrote.

“We have made good progress. But with our economy reopening and activities ramping up, safety standards and practices seem to have slipped. Accident rates have gone up, and we have lost ground. We must put this right.”

MOM, Workplace Safety and Health Council, National Trades Union Congress and business companions steered firms to impose a two-week protection timeout to study possibility exams and familiarise employees with protection procedures.

More than 12,000 firms had known as a timeout via mid-May.

Singapore has a long-term objective of lowering place of business fatalities to a fee under one consistent with 100,000 employees via 2028.
