Kissimmee’s ‘Monumental 4th of July’ celebration brings community together

The city of Kissimmee kicked off their ‘Monumental 4th of July’ celebration on Monday night.City officials call it their biggest event of the year.They say it usually averages about 10 to 15,000 people.In addition to live music and a 25 minute long firework show, the event featured food trucks and a Kids Zone equipped with batting cages and a gaming trailer. “We’re really excited about it this year. In 2020, we were not able to have the event. Last year, we had it planned, but the weather had some different plans for us, so we’re excited this year. We’ve got Sister Hazel coming out and another local band, Soul Switch, is going to be here,” Ben Burnett, the city’s Events and Venues Supervisor, said.The event began at 5 p.m. and ran through 9 p.m. at Kissimmee Lakefront Park.
