Watford star Emmanuel Dennis appears to mock Harry Maguire after Man Utd thrashing

Watford striker Matthew Dennis took a shot at Manchester United defender Harry Maguire with a cheeky celebration in the Hornets 4-1 win on Saturday.

Dennis netted in injury time goal to cap Watford’s rout and leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s job hanging by a thread.

United skipper Maguire was sent off for a wild lunge with United trailing 2-1 midway through the second half – but his afternoon got worse as Dennis copied Maguire’s celebrations from midweek after downing United.

Maguire was slammed by United icon Roy Keane after celebrating his goal against Albania by cupping his ears in a defiant message to his critics.

And Dennis took the opportunity to poke fun at Maguire by copying his celebration late on at Vicarage Road.

Dennis’ antics were the latest blow for Solskjaer after his team slumped to yet another humiliating defeat.

Maguire was one United star who had been pinpointed for his role in United’s awful recent results.

But he failed to repay his manager’s faith at Vicarage Road – and he might not get the opportunity to make amends.

The Norwegian was already reportedly on the brink of losing his job before the international break following humbling defeats against rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

But Saturday’s humiliation in Hertfordshire could be the straw that breaks the camels back with Solskjaer odds-on to be given the boot by the Old Trafford hierarchy.

United stumbled out of the blocks and were fortunate to not be behind sooner. They have David De Gea to thank for saving a twice-taken penalty to keep Watford at bay.

But he could do little to thwart Josh King, who slotted Watford into a deserved lead. Ismaila Sarr stung United again before the break.

The goalscoring introduction of Donny van de Beek gave United hope of salvaging something before Maguire was dismissed for two bookable offences in just nine minutes.

And United struggled to cope with the Hornets following Maguire’s latest calamitous error.

The hosts swarmed all over United and were rewarded with late goals from Joao Pedro and Dennis to kill off any hope of a Manchester United comeback; and potentially any hope for Solskjaer retaining his job.

United are now slumped in seventh spot in the Premier League – five points behind Liverpool in fourth spot, who have also played a game less.
