Police have this afternoon confirmed that Cameron Leith passed away at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow on Friday.
The 19-year-old had been involved in a collision on Wednesday, November 17 when the blue Vauxhall Vectra he was driving and a blue Ford Kuga crashed around 7.35am near Minishant on the B7045 at its junction with the B742.
Cameron was rushed to Kilmarnock’s Crosshouse Hospital for emergency treatment and was then transferred to Glasgow but he was unable to recover from his injuries.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses as they told how Cameron’s family have been informed and that a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Sergeant Craig Beaver from Ayrshire’s road policing unit said: “Our thoughts are very much with Mr Leith’s family at this sad time.

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and would ask anyone who has not yet come forward with information to get in touch with police.
“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or motorists with dash-cam footage from around the time of the crash.”
