Top 10 Scottish Covid and Omicron hotspots as daily cases hit record high of 20,000

Today’s Covid figures in Scotland revealed a record breaking 20,217 new cases – the highest daily figure so far in the pandemic.

A whopping 34.9 percent of 65,860 tests were positive today.

Previously, the record for new cases in a day was 15,849 on December 29, 2021.

The Scottish Government released headline figures today instead of detailed data, which hasn’t been updated since December 31.

The government stated that the New Year weekend – and the large volume of tests – have caused delays in reporting test results.

Public Health Scotland is “continuing to monitor the situation”.
