Stephen Craigan slams ‘unacceptable’ Celtic fans as he condemns wild Tony Ralston goal celebrations

Unimpressed Stephen Craigan has hit out at the Celtic supporters who ran onto the pitch in the immediate aftermath of Anthony Ralston’s last-gasp winner in the Highlands.

The former Motherwell defender was working as a pundit for Ross County TV and he condemned the celebrations that led to a number of away fans ended up celebrating with their heroes.

Some Celtic supporters spilled onto the pitch after Ralston’s 97th-minute winner kept Ange Postecoglou ‘s side four points behind Rangers after the 2-1 win.

But Craigan was left seriously unimpressed by the actions of some and was in no mood to mince his words amid jubilation for the away side.

He said: “What I would say, some of the scenes we are seeing on the pitch, fans on, this is totally unacceptable, totally unacceptable.”

“It’s a big goal, we know it’s a big goal, the scenes we are seeing at the minute are very unsavoury, it’s taking away from a wonderful header from Tony Ralston and everything that’s gone his way.”

Celtic boss Postecoglou offered a different view and reckoned some context is needed due to the goal coming so late in the match.

And he believes their Premiership title charge will only be boosted by such dramatic victories.

He added: “The fans have had a long drive up and it’s a long drive home.

“I hope they have calmed down and stay safe on the roads back.

“When you score a last second goal, not a last minute one, in front of them then you can imagine there’d be some over-exuberance there!

“It was great for them because they have had a long journey and there’s a real bond developing between the team and the fans.

“Nights like tonight help that as well.”
