Some Jif peanut butter products linked to salmonella cases

Consumers must double-check their jars of Jif peanut butter amid a recall, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say.

Jif’s creamy, crunchy, herbal and lowered fats peanut butters were connected to a salmonella outbreak throughout 12 states that has left 14 sick, with two other folks being hospitalized. Side results from salmonella poisoning come with fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.

According to the CDC, 2 of the 14 other folks getting unwell had been in Georgia.

The J.M. Smucker Co. introduced a voluntary recall Friday of a few Jif peanut butter merchandise for attainable salmonella contamination. Jars with lot codes 1274425 via 2140425 were recalled and must be disposed of, the corporate mentioned. The lot code is subsequent to the “best if used by” date at the product’s packaging.
