Dembele contract negotiations fall through

According to a variety of reports, Barcelona’s talks with Ousmane Dembele over a new contract have stalled.

The France international’s deal at the Camp Nou is poised to run out at the end of this campaign and there appeared to be a general confidence that both parties would reach an agreement.

But according to Gerard Romero (h/t Football Italia ), the winger will not sign new terms with Barcelona, potentially opening the door for Manchester United, Chelsea or Juventus to sign him.

Dembele was rated as one of the best prospects in world football when he joined Barcelona in 2017, but his time in Spain has been decimated by a litany of injury issues.

Sevilla hit Martial wall

According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t the Mirror ), Sevilla are unlikely to follow up with another offer for Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman is free to leave United in January, with the summer acquisitions of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho pushing him down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Sevilla made an offer for the striker but it was turned down by United, with the La Liga outfit said to have only offered half of the £150,000 weekly salary he currently earns.

The Andalusian side are now said to be unlikely to go back in for the 26-year-old though, as they are unable to accommodate a wage in excess of their initial offer.

Tuanzebe linked with Napoli

According to TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Sport Witness ), Napoli are hopeful of signing Axel Tuanzebe from Manchester United.

Napoli are on the hunt for a defender as they are poised to lose Kalidou Koulibaly in January due to Africa Cup of Nations commitments and Kostas Manolas has returned to Greek football.

Tuanzebe is currently on loan at Aston Villa, but he’s only made six Premier League starts all season. As such, a move to Italy may yield more opportunities for the 24-year-old.

In the report, it’s said “the operation seems already very well underway” and that the “next 48 hours will be decisive.”
