Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been branded the ‘lying one’ by a famous Spanish TV presenter who accused him of dirty tricks to get his daughter into a Justin Bieber interview.
Mourinho is more used to being called the ‘special one’ after the famed moniker stuck with him in the years after he used it in 2004 to describe himself in his first spell at Stamford Bridge.
But the Roma manager has made the headlines in Spain this week following the much more derogatory put-down given to him by Pablo Motos, who hosts a popular show which Paris Saint-Germain player Sergio Ramos’ stunning model wife Pilar Rubio works on.
Motos called out Mourinho on the nationally-televised TV show called El Hormiguero during an interview with Spanish sports presenter Juanma Castano.
Interrupting him when he asked Castano who he regretted not being able to interview and the sports presenter got to Mourinho’s name on his list, Motos replied: “Don’t talk to me about Mourinho, Mourinho is a liar.”
Referring to a 2012 visit by pop star Bieber to the El Hormiguero set in 2012 when the Portuguese-born coach was in charge at Real Madrid, the show host continued: “There was a moment when we all wanted to interview Mourinho.
“Justin Bieber was coming and 120 people fit in this studio and we had around 20,000 requests from people who wanted to be part of the studio audience.
“I was told by one of my crew Mourinho wanted his daughter to come with a friend and I said they’d have to tell him I was sorry but there was no room.
“He got hold of my telephone number and rang me. And suddenly I’ve got Mourinho, who you couldn’t ever speak to, on the other end of the line.
“He tells me that a father would do anything for his daughter. And I tell him I’ll get two tickets for his daughter and he has to come to the programme.
“He tells me okay, whatever I want, although he asks me if I wouldn’t prefer a player instead and I tell him ‘no, that I want him.”
Revealing he prepared for the coup of having Mourinho on his show, Pablo added: “One thing is that someone deceives you and another thing is that they bail out on 140 people who did a programme for him and 48 hours before, when he wasn’t answering his calls and I had a mobile number that stopped working, I decided to cancel it because he wasn’t going to show that day.
“He didn’t even say he wasn’t coming and he had deceived me. Mourinho is a liar.”
The astonishing revelation in front of millions of viewers provoked the laughter of his interviewee, who responded by saying: “You’re a novice. Welcome to football”
