Ash Barty’s first 2022 foray has been revealed, with Australia’s world No.1 likely to face star teenager Coco Gauff in Adelaide.
Barty has a first-round bye at the WTA500 event, while American Gauff will play a qualifier in the first round.
It will be a stern first-up test for Barty, if Gauff is successful, who skipped the end-of-year WTA Finals but still finished the season at the top of the rankings after claiming the Wimbledon crown.
The 17-year-old Gauff is ranked No.22 in the world and burst onto the scene when, as a 15-year-old, she reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2019.
Ajla Tomljanovic will play Heather Watson in the first round, while fellow Australian Priscilla Hon faces Petra Kvitova.
Wildcard Storm Sanders will play seventh seed Elena Rybakina while Belarus powerhouse and world No.2 Aryna Sabalenka looms in the bottom half of the draw.
Play begins at Memorial Drive on Monday.
