Female UFC fighter defends sickening move after ‘trying to stick finger in rival’s eye’

UFC fighter Priscila Cachoeira has defended a shocking eye-gouge which was slammed for being “so dirty.”

The 33-year-old missed weight ahead of her flyweight clash with Gillian Robertson on the preliminary card at UFC 269, Las Vegas.

But the Brazilian, nicknamed Pedrita, covered herself in even more shame when she attempted to use underhand tactics to stop her first defeat in over two years.

Cachoeira looked as if she was about to submit as Robertson held her in a rear-naked choke, but instead opted for the undignified act of poking her opponent in the eye in a fruitless attempt to turn the tide.

Fans and experts alike were shocked at the foul play on show, with commentator Joe Rogan calling it “cheating” and “so dirty.”

Replays showed Cachoeira attempted the manoeuvre twice before ‘The Savage’ was actually able to cause a submission.

But speaking after the fight, Cachoeira claimed the eye-gouge was merely an accident and that she had actually sought to “push her neck”.

She also revealed that her rival was “super cool” about the incident.

Cachoeira said: “It wasn’t my intention to [gouge] her eye when she was on my back.
