Ex-Carlisle star Craig Farrell dies aged 39 as tributes flood in from former clubs

Former Carlisle United and York City striker Craig Farrell has died on the age of 39.

After spending his adolescence occupation with Middlesbrough and Leeds, Farrell first of all joined Carlisle on a one-month mortgage in 2002 prior to signing a three-year take care of the membership. During his time at Brunton Park he scored 24 targets in 95 appearances.

The former England under-16 world, who made 3 appearances for his nation at adolescence stage, spent a 12 months with Exeter City prior to becoming a member of York City, and went directly to play for a number of different non-league golf equipment. York City posted on Twitter: “We are saddened to learn of the passing of former player Craig Farrell, aged 39. Craig made 111 appearances and scored 27 goals for City between 2006 and 2009. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.”

Exeter’s social media account commented: “All at Exeter City are saddened to hear of the passing of former Grecian Craig Farrell, aged 39. Craig joined the club in 2005 making 39 appearances. Our thoughts are with Craig’s family and friends at this sad time.”

Fellow former facet Whitby Town added: “Everyone at Whitby Town is extremely saddened that hear of the passing of former player Craig Farrell. Craig featured for the Seasiders between 2012 & 2015. Rest in Peace, Faz.”

Blyth Spartans wrote: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Blyth Player Craig Farrell. Farrell made 17 appearances in 2012 for Spartans scoring 7 goals. RIP faz.”

AFC Telford United shared: “Sad news reaches us of the untimely passing of former Bucks striker Craig Farrell, who played for the club in the 2011/12 season. We extend our deepest sympathies to Craig’s friends and family at this difficult time.”
