While many gamers would have spotted Xur over at the Dares of Eternity, they will want to know where he can be found on the standard map later today.
That’s because the mysterious Agent of the Nine will be back peddling hot exotics in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
A recent change has also made it possible to unlock Legendary Armour pieces and weapons, meaning there’s a bigger crowd trying to track the merchant down.
And the good news is that Xur will be back in the game and available to visit starting at 5pm GMT on December 17.
Bungie has not said they are delaying or cancelling Xur’s trip to the EDZ, Lighthouse or Nessus, so there’s a good chance you’ll be able to purchase fresh exotics later today.
It should also be noted that the Destiny support team will not reveal his final location, and it will be up to Guardians to scope out all of his regular haunts.
A full report of what new exotics are available to buy will be shared within a few minutes of his return.
For those new to Destiny, the Legendary Shards used by Xur are remnants of powerful items used to improve gear or trade for other stuff.
It should also be noted that Xur will be dropping items similar in power level to your character.
And another part of Xur that is new to the latest version of Destiny 2 is that he now drops Cipher Quests for free.
The Quest will reward you with an exotic Cipher, and last week included completing 21 Strikes or winning the same number of Crucible or Gambit matches.
Every week, Guardians can acquire one Exotic Engram using Legendary Shards that will decrypt as Exotics that aren’t already in your collection.
Last week, Xur was selling:
- The Wardcliff Coil Heavy Rocket Launcher for 29 Legendary Shards
- Orpheus Rig Hunter Leg Armor for 23 Legendary Shards
- Citan’s Ramparts Titan Gauntlets for 23 Legendary Shards
- Skull of Dire Ahamkara for 23 Legendary Shards
As always, Xur’s gear will remain available to purchase until the weekly reset, which is scheduled for Tuesday, December 21.
Everyone on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC will have access to Xur at the same time and usually receive the same random rolls.
This means that depending on what has been selected for this week, there could be more interest in Xur than usual.
Another Destiny 2 event is also in full swing, with The Dawning set to run until early January 2021.
A message from Bungie explains: “This is the perfect time of year to show our new Eliksni and Cabal friends that our life is not just struggle and strife. Meet Eva Levante in the Tower and earn Dawning Spirit by completing festive missions, baking toasty treats, and exchanging gifts. There are new rewards to unwrap and Stasis-infused snowballs to throw.
“The Vapoorwill Spin Exotic ship, Fractic Spiral Sparrow, and Zephyr Legendary Sword make their Dawning debut alongside new unlockable upgrades that provide bonus rewards and improved Dawning weapon drops.”
