Brave mum will ‘never mentally recover’ from rescuing tot after he fell down manhole

A courageous mum has recalled the horrifying second that her tot disappeared down a manhole.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Amy mentioned that she “will never mentally recover” from having to rescue her son Theo after he stepped on an unscrewed quilt.

Footage of the twist of fate showcased Amy, from Kent, dashing to the manhole inside seconds of Theo disappearing, Kent Live experiences.

Amy threw her sweatshirt and contact to the bottom sooner than getting rid of the quilt and leaping into the drain to get well her kid.

She advised the ITV display: “We had been strolling, Theo was once going to visit his dad’s space. We had been strolling from my mum’s space to the auto, and I used to be strolling alongside the trail and Theo was once conserving my hand initially.

“After he let go of my hand, he ran towards the drain – he just ran towards the drain – and something, my gut instinct, told me ‘I need to run, I need to run.’ As I turned around, he fell through the hole and the drain had just closed completely on top of him.”

Amy persisted: “I couldn’t even hear him, I didn’t even know if my baby was going to be there or if he was going to be dead. The hole was so tiny, I just jumped into the hole.

“He was once on the backside, status in sewage as much as his knees.

“He was screaming my name, absolutely screaming my name. And I just jumped in, there were these concrete steps, I managed to get my foot on one but the hole was so tiny I couldn’t actually bend my body forward to grab him.”

She admitted she had “thought he was going to die” after seeing Theo disappear into the drain. Southern Water, answerable for the drain within the Tenterden house, has since apologised to Amy and her circle of relatives.

The corporate added they’re taking the subject “very seriously.” A Southern Water spokesperson mentioned: “We are acutely aware of a scenario involving a kid and an open manhole.
