A few storms later as the heat starts to sizzle through the day

Today will be another relatively dry day along the beaches but inland areas should see a 30% chance of storms.

Rain holds off until after 3 pm when isolated storms develop around Jax and in the vicinity of the St. Johns River south of I-10.  Storms will be short-lived and track northward along and away from the river. A second round of heavier rain will be likely this evening between the I-75 and US 301 corridors. Some strong storms in this area will last through 8 pm with gusty winds.

Highs will be in the mid to upper 90s inland with heat index values of 100-103. The heat index pushes up to 107 tomorrow as temperatures increase through the weekend.

Rain will stay limited the next couple of days and nearly dry over the weekend as a heat wave builds. Temps in the mid to upper 90s are likely all weekend.
